Gain Skills. Challenge Yourself. Lead.

At the Royal Bermuda Regiment, your personal and professional growth is a priority. Whether you’re looking to build confidence, learn technical skills, or take on a leadership role — we offer real-world training that goes beyond the military.

Two Main Training Paths

RBR training falls into two key categories:

Leadership & Command Training

Prepare to lead soldiers in complex, high-stakes situations. Develop your leadership, communication, and decision-making through progressive career courses.

Job-Specific Training

Build technical skills in your chosen field — from logistics to comms, disaster relief to ceremonial duties. Many roles include international training opportunities with partner forces around the world.

Leadership Development Path

Potential Junior Non-Commissioned Officer Cadre (PJNCO Cadre)

This is your first step into leadership. Typically, open to soldiers after 1 year of service (with recommendation), this course covers:

  • Small team leadership and tactics
  • Drill instruction & presentation skills
  • Communication and mentoring
  • Overseas training deployment (June)
  • Final qualification: Lance Corporal (LCpl) in November

Graduates may then progress to instructor or command roles.

DITS teaches you how to teach others — a vital skill for any leader. You’ll learn:

  • Lesson planning
  • Public speaking
  • Rifle instruction (theory and practical)
  • General presentation skills

With more experience, you can attend internationally recognised battle schools, such as:

  • Section Commander’s Battle Course (Infantry Battle School, Brecon)
  • Platoon Sergeant’s Battle Course (Brecon)
  • Advanced All Arms Drill Course (Catterick, UK)

Officer Pathway

Potential Officers must complete a selection weekend, where candidates are assessed on:

  • Leadership under pressure
  • Communication & presentation
  • Problem-solving & military knowledge

Selected candidates may then train locally before attending the Commissioning Course Short (CCS) at the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the UK. Graduates receive a Governor’s Commission.
