RBR On Parade For Remembrance Day

Crowds yesterday paid tribute to those who served at Bermuda’s annual Remembrance Day parade. The Royal Bermuda Regiment and its Band and Corps of Drums joined veterans, soldiers from the British Army and other uniformed services for the wreath-laying at the Cenotaph on Front Street.

RBR Special Constables Sworn In

 A total of 25 Royal Bermuda Regiment soldiers were last night sworn in as Special Constables. The troops, from the RBR’s Operational Support Unit (OSU), the RBR public order specialists, took the oath of constable at the Bermuda Police headquarters, watched by family, friends and senior RBR and police officers. Now they will be deployed as part of the massive joint security effort alongside police officers from the upcoming America’s Cup.

Major Emergency Exercise Held In Dockyard

Royal Bermuda Regiment soldiers at the weekend joined forces with other emergency services for a major disaster exercise in the run-up to the America’s Cup. More than 250 personnel took part in a Dockyard disaster simulation designed to test the island’s responses to a major incident involving dozens of deaths and serious injuries. Participants in the exercise, which saw mass casualties treated at the scene and transferred to hospital, were drawn from the RBR, police, fire service, Customs, St John Ambulance, the Red Cross and the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
