And now, the moment the recruits have been waiting for, the presentation of the prizes. Prizes are only awarded for first place.

The Platoons participated in Foot Ball, Volley Ball, Tug of War and Truck Pull. We presented the winners with their awards on Thursday night. The winners of the events were:

Volley Ball and Tug of War- 7PL

Foot Ball and Truck Pull-8 PL

This year 14 Awards were handed out.

Section Skills Competition

The Troops took part in a round robin exercise  which they were tested at a series of 8 stands. Those stands were;

1. The Kit Move

2. A rifle stripping, assembling & Mag filling stand

3. The Tower of Strength

4. Observation Post

5. A stretcher race.

6. Badges of Rank & Field Signals

7. The Tower Hanoi and

8. First Aid

The section that accumulated the most points through the series of stands was section 7 of 8 Platoon, commanded by 11147 LCpl Trott KK.

Best Shot

This award is given to the recruit who has the tightest grouping after firing from different positions on the 100m range. This year, the award is given to a soldier in Section 3 of 7 Platoon, 11316 Pte Virgil.

5 Mile Race Winner

We all participated in the Annual Recruit camp 5 mile Race. The 1st place winner of the race was 11367 Pte Daniels of Section 4 , 7PL.

5 Mile Section

The Section that had the highest overall scores for the Road Race was Section 3 of 7 PL.

Falling Plate

There was a falling plate competition. All participants were grouped into teams of 5 and the challenge was to shoot down 10 targets from on 100m range. We had participation from the Privates, Corporals, Company Headquarters, Regimental Headquarters, The Defence Board, The Bermuda Police Service, Customs Officers, The Fire Department and even His Excellency participated with a team from Government House. However, there can only be one winner.

After the dust settled, the Section that emerged as the champions of the falling plate competition was Section 5 from 8 Platoon, commanded by 11115 LCpl Wade SAT.

The Corporals Mess gets an honorable mention as the Champion Guest Section.

Assault Course

On Thursday Afternoon, the recruits participated in a challenging assault course competition. The objective was for the section commander to get his section through the various obstacles safely and in the fastest time possible. This year the winner of the section assault course competition was Section 5 of 8 Platoon, Commanded by 11115 LCpl Wade SAT.

Inter Section Drill Competition

The section commanders had the challenge of getting their individual sections through a series of drill movements. This competition was judged on the basis of how well the soldiers executed the words of command given by their section commanders, the precision of the collective drill movements and the overall enthusiasm of the section among other factors. The Inter Section Drill Competition Champions are Section _7 of _8 Platoon, commanded by 11147 LCpl Trott KK.

Best Barrack Room

Every morning the barrack rooms were inspected by yours truly for cleanliness, uniformity, tidiness and creativity. Some of the soldiers struggled with this discipline and other got it down to a fine art. The key to winning this is teamwork and attention to detail. Let me say that it was a pleasure for me to inspect the barrack room of Section(s) 3 & 4 of 7 Platoon in Barrack Room 4.

Best Recruit

This award is given to the recruit who has stood out in all disciplines. This soldier has stood out by way of their personal drill, weapons handling, morale building and leadership qualities. This recruit has represented themselves as an outstanding individual and the Regiment will look forward to seeing them on the Cadre. This years award goes to 11364 Pte Owen of 7 Platoon.

Champion Section

This section has demonstrated the ability to work well together and as a result accumulated the most points to win this Award.

The Champion Section is 5 section of 8 Platoon, commanded by 11115 LCpl Wade SAT.

Best Section Commander

This coveted award goes to the Section Commander that has demonstrated Command and Control over his charges and superb organizational skills. He is a morale builder and inspires his section to achieve their tasks to a high standard. Along with this award goes a years worth of bragging rights and this year, the award goes to the commander of 1 section of 7 Platoon, commanded by 10768 LCpl Watkinson IM.

Battle Run

The Battle run is arguably at the pinnacle of team building exercises. This is a grueling run that is graded on the entire platoon effort. Everyone is encouraged to participate and the clock stops when the last man crosses the line. The Platoon is as fast as its slowest man. That said, you see the best of men and women when they endure hardships together and encourage one another to surpass their own perceived limitations. This years Battle Run Award goes to 7 Platoon.

Platoon Drill Champions

The recruits have done a lot of work to get to where they are today. As much as they have improved from day one and as good as they are now, there can only be one Platoon Drill Champion.

After tallying the judges scores, the Platoon Drill Champions are7 Platoon, Commanded by Lt Kris Dakin.

Best Drill Instructor:

WO2 Sean Simons

Champion Platoon

And now, the Champion Platoon is the Platoon that has accumulated the most points over the entire recruit camp. This Platoon has represented itself as the best of this years recruits. The Champion Platoon is 7 Platoon.
