Approaching the finale of Recruit Camp 2012 the recruits are nearing the completion of their transition into military life.  The two weeks of early morning physical training, weapon handling, drill lessons, and field craft lessons have had a profound effect on these young men and women.  However, they still have 2 days to confirm that the transition has been successful.

Intro to Formal Parade

Beginning at 7:30am on 27 January the Recruits will be introduced to how a formal Regimental Parade is conducted.  The recruits will participate in a shortened parade involving the marching on of the Queens and Regiments Colours, arrivals of VIPs, inspections and Royal Salutes.

Intersection Falling Plate Competition

At 2:00pm on 27 January the Recruits will take part in the Intersection Falling Plate Competition held at Warwick Long Bay.  During this competition the 8 Sections of Recruits will each enter a 4 man team and go against each other in a round robin elimination tournament.  The goal is to run from the starting point to the firing point (150-200 metres); once on the firing point they will have 5 rounds each to knock down 8 Metal Plates 100 metres away.

This competition also has guest teams from Government House, the Bermuda Police Service, Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service, the Defence Board, HM Customs, and the Department of Corrections.  Also firing with the guest teams are 2 Regimental Headquarters teams, Officers’ Mess Warrant Officers’ & Sergeants’ Mess team, and a Corporals’ Mess team.

The 1st place team from the Recruits will then be matched against the 1st place team of the guests to see who the overall winner will be.  The Training Team is hopeful that the recruits will take top honours as they did last year.

Company Route March

On 28 January at 8:00am the Recruits will be conducting their end of camp Company Route March.  This march affords the public a chance to see and support the Recruits shortly before they finish training.  The route for the march is as follows:

  • Move from Warwick Camp to Camp Hill Road
  • North on Camp Hill Road to Middle Road
  • West along Middle Road to Gibbs Hill Road
  • South along Gibbs Hill Road to South Road
  • East along South Road back to Warwick Camp

Families and friends are welcome to come and watch at any point along the route.

Recruit Camp 2012 Passing Out Parade

On 28 January at 2:30pm the culmination of Recruit Camp 2012 will be held in the form of the Passing Out Parade.  During this parade there will be an Inter Platoon Drill Competition, Prize Presentation and the evening will end with a Sunset Parade Ceremony.  The Commanding Officer invites friends and families and the general public are all welcomed to come to see this event.
